Vixi is a social media aggregator with a natural user interface layer, powered by Microsoft's Kinect technology.

Used as an experiential service for multiple verticals, including sporting events, retail promotion, and more, Vixi pulls in data from Instagram, Twitter and Vine to visualize and amplify social media content relevant to a brand or event, and then creates a playful way for users to interact with, and contribute to the social media conversation through using the Kinect technology as a means of exploring the flow of content, sharing that content, and adding content to the experience themselves.

Vixi has been leveraged at sporting events around the country s a means of connecting fans to their favorite teams. Clients include the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, and more.

Typically, we creatives are our own worst clients, and rebranding/repositioning an agency full of creatives can seem risky enough to paralyze. But when The Famous Group and Famous Interactive decided to merge their separate lines of business, and rebrand as a truly integrated agency, the charter was clear; Keep it understated, and let the work and the talent speak for itself.

Laddering off the identity refresh, I designed a minimal, slightly mysterious visual system designed to elaborate on the tone of the new logo, and decided that a hybrid adaptive/responsive design solution was the best course to disseminate Famous’ presence on the web across multiple device types. Playing to the strengths of each device, the the user interface, content and layout all adapt to the gesture based behavior of tablets and mobile devices when the site is viewed from them.

Beyond the excitement of the scope of the project, other highlights included defining how this new visual language would translate into motion, and designing complementary logo marks for Famous sub brands.

While working with the fine folks at JUXT, I was asked to contribute to the overall experience by crafting multiple solutions within the overall GSX transmedia event hub. First, using the talents of an acrobat/gymnast team, we filmed a series of vignettes where the gymnasts bodies would contort and combine to form beautiful visual metaphors that users could dynamically link and share with each other, as a form of personalized “thank you” for their hard work.

Secondly, We created a series of 3d rendered micro-gestures, called “touts” that acted as a way for people to communicate through the GSX social media environment.

Lastly, we created a gamification layer to the entire event, and crafted a set of illustrated badges that attendees could unlock through a series of interactions with the event, that would give them the chance to win prizes.

These different social, gaming and motion graphics elements aided in making GSX a hit for the 7th year in a row, and led to the event being nominated for a EX event award.

I looked at multiple ways in which the social engine could be used as a sandbox to bring brands and their audiences together in meaningful ways, one of which was the
Twitter Social.

The experience was more of a scalable, multi-user platform, that could be used as a gaming, chat, or community foundation upon which brands could build their experiences.
The basic idea is that each user who enters the experience logs into Twitter, and is given an avatar of sorts to communicate and play with other users online. Real time chat and status updates could be sent from and experience where brands could set the engagement as best fit their product, and could deliver rich content in an arena that allowed two-way communication between the brand and users, and between the users themselves.
